Portrayal of Guilt powstało w 2017 roku. Zespół zadebiutowało EP-ką "Portrayal of Guilt" i wyruszyło w trasę z zespołami takimi jak Centuries, Majority Rule czy Slow Fire Pistol. W 2018 roku ukazał się pierwszy album Portrayal of Guilt "Let Pain Be Your Guide", który zapowiadały singlt "A Burden", "Your War" i "Among Friends". Rok później zespół wydał EP-kę "Suffering is a Gift". Kolejne albumy Portrayal of Guilt to "We Are Always Alone" i "Christfucker". Przez wielu muzyka Portrayal of Guilt określana jest jako screamo.
